Make a list of the deeds you do in public
Make a list for those done in private
Check your life: are you showing off? Are you doing things for people or for Allah?
Another sign of showing off and arrogance is that you will avoid doing good things for fear that people will see you and think that you are showing off or for fear of arrogance. Try to find a balance people!!
p.S. I want to write a book soo bad. What should I write about?
The problem with us is that we make an effort to keep away from major shirk but don't realise that things such as riya also amount to shirk, although most of the time we tend to show off without really meaning to.
ReplyDeleteVery true. It can be very tricky and that is what shaytaan wants us to be confused about! I think that if we avoid doing good for fear of riyaa or do all the good for the sake of riyaa then we are losers both ways...:(
